GoAERO is excited to announce a new in-kind partnership with NUAIR, a leading nonprofit organization driving economic development through innovations in Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS) and Advanced Air Mobility. This collaboration will provide GoAERO teams with access to world-class testing facilities and expert consultation services to accelerate the development of life-saving emergency response aircraft.

Through this partnership, NUAIR is offering GoAERO Stage 2 and Stage 3 teams access to their extensive testing infrastructure in Central New York, including:

  • 450 square miles of airspace waivered and supported for Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations

  • Diverse testing environments with multiple runway types and varied terrain features (lakes, plains, mountains)

  • Use of NUAIR's Operations Center designed specifically for aircraft preparation, maintenance, and flight support

  • Data and telemetry recording services to validate and improve aircraft performance

  • Support from a dedicated team of pilots, aircraft technicians, and safety advisors with decades of experience

"Testing is a critical phase in developing reliable emergency response aircraft," said Gwen Lighter, GoAERO Founder and CEO. "NUAIR's facilities and expertise will enable our teams to validate their designs in real-world conditions, accelerating the path toward creating aircraft that can save lives during disasters and emergencies."

“NUAIR is proud to be partnering with GoAERO to support the development and enablement of their teams’ life-saving aircraft,” said Ken Stewart, President & CEO of NUAIR. “The United States has one of the most secure and restricted airspaces in the world, and NUAIR offers the perfect environment for safe and comprehensive validation and verification for teams looking to unlock this market.”

Additionally, NUAIR will provide advisory services and consulting through their team of regulatory experts who are deeply familiar with FAA procedures and processes, including experimental and traditional aircraft certification pathways—knowledge that will be invaluable to teams navigating the certification landscape.

NUAIR currently supports aircraft under 55 lbs at altitudes up to 400 ft AGL, but is in the process of upscaling their airspace capabilities to accommodate aircraft up to 1,320 lbs and missions up to 10,000 ft AGL. They are also in the Near-Term Approval (NTAP) process with the FAA that will allow organizations to use NUAIR’s surveillance infrastructure as a pre-approved safety case to enable commercial BVLOS operations, anticipated by mid-2025.

NUAIR has created special packages for GoAERO participants:

Through this In-Kind partnership, NUAIR offers competing GoAERO teams special package rates for testing and support services. Example packages include the following:

For complete details of these packages and hourly rates for NUAIR's Operations Team, please see the full rate sheet at the bottom of this post. NUAIR will also participate in the GoAERO Expert Lecture series, providing teams with insights on airspace management and regulatory compliance.

This partnership represents another significant step in GoAERO's mission to catalyze breakthrough solutions for aerial emergency response, providing teams with the advanced testing capabilities needed to develop aircraft that can save lives in disaster scenarios.

To learn more about this partnership or to inquire about NUAIR's services, please contact Sue and Jim Gardner at Gardner Aviation Services to discuss your team-specific needs. Gardner Aviation will assist GoAERO teams in identifying how they can best utilize NUAIR’s facilities and connect the teams directly with the facility.
